Top Ten Tuesdays – Books With an American Flag on the Cover

Copy of ttt - Books with an American flag on the cover

In celebration of Independence Day, here are thirteen (for the Thirteen Colonies) books with an American flag on the cover.

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

A creative and insightful graphic history that surprised me wtih how good it was.

the soul of AmericaThis book sounds fascinating!

A wonderful novel set during WWII. One of my favorites!

1067Yes, there is a flag here. It’s in the middle and way in the back, nearly hidden by the smoke of battle. This is one of my favorite books of all time.

the glorious cause

The movie Gods and Generals is one of my favorites, so I can’t wait to read one of Shaara’s novels. I expect I’ll learn a lot from it and that’s something I’m looking forward to.

The Dawn's Early LightThis is from the author of A Night to Remember which is about the Titanic. I like that this cover has an old photograph of the actual flag that flew above Fort McHenry the night Francis Scott Key wrote “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

to try men's soulsI love this cover with the famous painting and the stars in the background. I can’t wait to read it!

yankee doodleA childhood favorite! Wonderful and clever.

a patriot's historyThis book is so huge, which is why I haven’t read through it already. But I’m still planning on reading it.

flags of our fathersI saw the movie. Now I must read the book.

A world on fire

I love that cover! So creative!

fight for freedom

Another childhood favorite. This book includes tons of stunning paintings.

Gods and generalsAnother Shaara book I’m eager to read.

Have you read any of the books on my list? Let me know in the comments!

  1. Sarah, this is another great post and perfect timing for it! You have really great ideas for your posts! I especially like your idea to list thirteen books. I may have read some/parts of the above books, but I’m not sure. They all look like wonderful books!

    1. Thanks so much! I had so much fun with this week’s TTT. I was surprised, too, about how many books have flags on them. At first I thought I’d have a hard time coming up with ten, but it turned out that I had a hard time narrowing it down to thirteen! 😀
